Nonprofit Workforce Coalition
Initiative for Nonprofit Careers > Nonprofit Workforce Coalition
The Nonprofit Workforce Coalition is comprised of nonprofit organizations, associations, foundations and academic centers focused on identifying and addressing issues facing the nonprofit sector workforce. More specifically, the Coalition exists to (a) connect talented, skilled, and diverse young people to nonprofit sector careers, and (b) help nonprofit organizations recruit, retain, and cultivate the diverse leadership they will need in the decades ahead. The Coalition is growing as more organizations realize the need to learn and strategically plan how changes in the leadership of the nonprofit sector and the demographics of the workforce will affect how they attract and retain professionals to work in their organizations. The current list of Coalition members is listed below:
Coalition members include the following organizations:

Coalition Background
During the past two years, many stakeholders have convened – formally and informally – to discuss establishing a national coalition to tackle the sector’s workforce challenges. American Humanics has worked with colleagues in the field to facilitate a number of these National Dialogues at the national conferences of (and in partnership with) ARNOVA, Independent Sector, and the National Human Services Assembly. Most recently, American Humanics convened 32 organizations at the Pocantico Conference Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in July 2005, for two days of rigorous discussion on the research and advocacy work we might undertake collectively to recruit, prepare, and retain a skilled, diverse next-generation of nonprofit sector leadership. These meetings identified the need to create the Nonprofit Sector Workforce Coalition for all members of the nonprofit sector to work collaboratively to advance a workforce and leadership development agenda for the nonprofit sector.
